"Sorceress - Title unknown"
Medium Date Framed Size Image Size
Oil Pastel/Ink on Artist Board 1973 26-5/8"H x 26-5/8"W 17-7/8" Diameter
From Michael Babcock: This is another sophisticated flowing piece in circular format, from 1979, with Susan’s characteristic use of striking color and movement. It was  perhaps Susan’s version of some children’s story – it would not be out of place as an illustration in a Hans Christian Andersen book of fairy tales.

From TPG: One can easily weave the beginning of a story from the myriad images in this monumental painting. A benevolent Sorceress, star in her outstretched left hand, stands over a sleeping medieval town. Susan’s attention to detail in the forest, “period” architecture, mysterious passageways and profuse butterfly images throughout is most imaginative. The central character draws in and passes a cascading bounty of birds, butterflies, flowers, a female figure and an almost imperceptible dragon image, from the sky above, through her hands and over the city below. The radiant Sun within her cape brings the promise of dawn to the scene. A reflective sphere in the center of the town and two large etheric buildings, at the lower right of the painting, add to the mystery in this elaborate untold story.

This original work has been re-framed with a custom wood frame. Archival triple-matted with suede bottom & middle mats and a linen top mat. Acid-free materials throughout and re-glazed with Conservation Clear, Tru-Vue, UV protective glass. Signed by Susan Seddon Boulet, bottom-right. Dated AUG 79
