Nuanced color and repeated form join handsomely as they softly melt to create this dreamlike environment. Susan worked the oil pastels layer upon layer. She moves toward the lightness in the center of the piece by reaching back into the pastel layers with her sgraffito technique to lift the diaphanous images to the surface. Susan’s meaning for the “halo” of Thistledown around the woman’s head remains an untold story.
This original work has been re-framed with an antiqued, textured, custom wood frame. Archival triple-matted with black core, paper bottom mat and linen top mat. Acid-free materials throughout and re-glazed with Museum Conservation, Tru-Vue, UV protective glass. Signed by Susan Seddon-Boulet lower-right. Dated Aug 80.
